Psychosocial Support

Psychosocial services focus on the mental, emotional and developmental wellbeing of children and teens. Mental health trained allied health professionals such as paediatricians, psychologists, social workers and occupational therapists can help families and children address many of the following:

  • mental and emotional support needs

  • grief or relationship support needs

  • mental health support needs

  • learning difficulties

  • behavioural difficulties

Some common reasons parents seek psychosocial support for their children include:

  • Emotional regulation needs

  • Low frustration tolerance

  • Irritability

  • Poor confidence or self-esteem issues

  • Having problems at school or not wanting to go to school

  • Adjustment difficulties (new school, divorce, friendships)

  • Constant and/or intense feelings of worry, stress or fear

  • Low mood, including sadness

  • Trauma

  • Bullying

  • Grief and loss due to family bereavement, separation, or divorce

  • Difficulty with social skills

  • Social withdrawal

  • Change to behaviour e.g. clinginess or distancing

  • Disrupted sleep and eating patterns

Children and teens meet with psychosocial therapists when their feelings, behaviour or social abilities are getting in the way of them doing and feeling their best at home or at school. Our psychosocial support team will utilise their years of experience, diverse evidence-based strategies and therapeutic approaches to work with parents, care givers and children to navigate through life’s difficult times.

Some of these approaches may include:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

  • Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT)

  • Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT)

  • Narrative Therapy

Accredited Mental Health Therapists

Say Hooray's Mental Health Specialist is fully registered and accredited to provide psychosocial and mental health support. We offer an extensive range of service delivery options, including centre-based, school and home-based services. We understand that everyone has different needs and we are dedicated to helping your child achieve their goals in the environment that you chose.

See our Location Options page for more details about where we can provide services.

Office Based sessions

Our head office is located on Henley Beach Road, in Brooklyn Park. We also have office locations in Sheidow Park, SA and Byron Bay, NSW. Many families chose the convenience of office-based sessions and the ability to sit in on therapy to watch their child and learn strategies to support them at home.

School/Kindy/Childcare Visits

We understand that fitting therapy around family and work life can be challenging at times. That's why we also provide a school/kindy/childcare visit service. Following the initial and assessment sessions, you may chose to have your psychosocial support therapist from Say Hooray see your child at their school for their therapy sessions.

Home Visits

Some children respond best in the home environment or have family commitments that make it hard to make it to a practice location. Say Hooray is proud to offer home-based therapy services to families in the Western and Southern suburbs of Adelaide, as well as the Byron Shire, NSW.

Online appointments
We're also able to offer sessions online to families who aren't local to Adelaide, or prefer the convenience of online supports.

Fee information can be found here. If you have any questions about the options above, don't hesitate to get in touch with us on 8353 5543 or via our contact page here.
